2022 December Spotlight Athlete- Jésus Luna
If you ever want to know what it looks like to be a person who’s humble yet full of talent and ability and skill all while being kind and graceful, look no further than Jésus Luna. If we’re being really honest about things he’s the part of CrossFit Zachary that makes everything work. Literally. He’s everyone’s right hand man at the gym. When we don’t know how to do something or when something goes wrong or is misplaced all anyone needs to do is ask Jésus and he will always have the answer. Jésus came to CrossFit Zachary with his dad and brother just to workout. After sticking around the gym for a while Coach Fabian, the owner and head coach, noticed this kid was extremely helpful even when no one even asked for help. He’s always willing and ready to do whatever needs to be done to make everything just perfect. Not only is he extremely handy but he moves the barbell better than most at the gym. Coach Wade often says Jésus is the best non-coach, coach at the gym. I think you’ll find many that agree with that statement. He may seem quiet and a bit shy but he’s a wealth of knowledge with olympic lifts and he’s always willing to give a tip that usually results in a more successful lift. We can’t say enough about Jésus and how vital he is to the community here at CrossFit Zachary. One of his best traits is that he actually listens and he’s a great sounding board. He has this ability to come up with a solution that makes you think to yourself “that was so simple, why didn’t I think of that?” I think it’s safe to say he’s not just our spotlight athlete of the month but our spotlight Community Member of the year. Thank you Jésus for all you do!
Jésus is always there when I have technical difficulties with the monitors or Speakers. Always offering a helping hand to clean up after my last class and prepare for the next mornings session. Thanks Jésus your kindness does not go unseen! -Coach Cheri

Jésus is an "actions louder than words" kind of person. It isn't uncommon to find him in the gym early tending to a chore or task that needs doing, repairs and monotonous daily maintenance that we all take for granted. Because of his efforts our gym is a safer (equipment repairs + maintenance), cleaner, and more enjoyable space. I'm fairly certain he can do anything or fix anything - which is an admirable quality. My favorite thing about Jésus isn't that he can DO all of these things though, it's HOW he does them; With a graceful and humble nature. In my 3.5 years at Crossfit Zachary I have NEVER heard him complain about anything - not even during a workout...not even about the music I play before anyone else shows up.
