February Spotlight Athlete- Donna Richards
This month we’re excited to present Mrs. Donna Richards as our spotlight athlete. She has been nothing but fun and a breath of fresh air at our gym. Consistency is something that she’s very familiar with. You can rest assure she’s going to be at the gym during one of our evening classes and her discipline has shown great results. She’s not afraid of any of the challenges she’s faced during her time at CFZ. Wether it’s long distance running, olympic weightlifting or anything else we throw her way, she handles it with a smile and fierce determination. Here’s what Donna has to say about her time at CrossFit Zachary.
1. What brought you to CrossFit Zachary in the first place? I am over 50, and started to gain weight for the first time in my life, so my husband encouraged me to join CrossFit, because he loved it, and had been a member for about a year before I joined.
2. What was your first impression?How has that changed? When I first heard about CrossFit, I didn't think I would be able to do it. I didn't think I was strong enough. I thought everyone would be super fit and judge me, because I am not, but I found out the complete opposite. Everyone (coaches and members) were so welcoming and willing to help.
3. What was your first “bright spot, (PR)? I was actually tickled pink when I was able to do a handstand on the wall, and then I was able to do "nose to wall" handstand!!!
4. What are you working on now? I would really like to be able to do a pull up and toes to bar.
5. What’s your favorite CrossFit Zachary memory? I don’t really have any favorite memory, but I did enjoy when we went to eat at Soji, and Top Golf. It was just nice to hang out with all the new friends I have made a CrossFit Zachary. I also enjoyed the Barbell for Boobs events, and how CrossFit Zachary remembers all of the heroes from our gym and around the country.
