2021 September Spotlight Athlete- Taylor Turner
Meet Taylor, our spotlight athlete of the month. When Taylor came to us it was obvious he had been in a CrossFit gym before. But he was humble and very eager to learn what he could from the coaches. He quickly became a constant face in the community and not just him, but his father and sister joined as well. From time to time when someone has a background in CrossFit and joins another gym it’s very possible for them to not be teachable. That was never the situation with Taylor. He’s made tremendous progress by making little tweaks to increase his speed and strength. You’ll quickly find out that he’s a man of few words but lots of determination. Just ask any of his fellow 6pm CrossFitters. We’re glad Taylor and the Family have found a home at CrossFit Zachary. Congratulations to him on being our Spotlight Athlete. Read below what Taylor has to say about his time with us. (I told you he’s a man of few words.)
Q: WHY DID YOU JOIN US?
A: I joined CrossFit Zachary because I was tired of working out from home and not seeing the results I wanted. I wanted an environment that would consistently challenge me and teach me the skills I needed to be stronger and healthier.
Q: WHAT'S BEEN YOUR BIGGEST ACCOMPLISHMENT SINCE JOINING US?
A: My biggest accomplishment so far has been the improvement I’ve had with using the barbell and Olympic lifting. With the help of the coaches I’ve never felt stronger and more confident with my technique.
Q: WHAT ARE YOU WORKING ON NOW?
A: I’m currently working on trying to improve my overall gymnastic skills.
Q: WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE MEMORY AT OUR GYM?
A: My favorite memory so far at the gym would have to be the 2021 Open. My whole family was able to come out and cheer while my dad and I competed. Then afterwards we ate some delicious tacos.
Q: WHAT MOTIVATES YOU TO CONTINUE TRAINING HERE?
A: My motivation comes from the camaraderie and the sense of accomplishment I feel after every single class.
