2022 April Spotlight Athlete- Wade Henson

Our Spotlight Athlete this month is Wade Henson! Most of the time you’ll catch Wade managing the grounds and animals at Magnolia Ridge Adventure Park. We’re happy to have him with us for an hour each day. After being out in the sun all day or managing a group of kids zip lining at the park, Wade still finds the energy to come in and put in the work to increase his fitness and give himself a higher quality of life. Even our most active clients know that it’s important to set aside time to focus on specific exercises to strengthen the lungs, heart and muscles. Wade has definitely increased his strength during his time with us and he’s excited to continue on this journey. If you have similar goals in mind, come on in and talk to one of our coaches and we would love to get you headed in the right direction to accomplish those goals. Congratulations to Wade!

What brought you to CrossFit Zachary in the first place?

1. I started coming to CrossFit Zachary because I didn’t really know how to properly build the strength and muscle that I wanted.

What was your first impression? How has that changed?

2. My first impression has changed a lot because I didn’t know if I would be able to keep up with the group setting. I quickly realized that the group actually helps you push harder!

What was your first “bright spot, (PR)?

3. When I first hit 225lbs on deadlift! I believe it’s 275lb now but I wanted to hit 2 plates both sides

What are you working on now?

4. Building mass and going for way higher on deadlift!

What’s your favorite CrossFit Zachary memory?

5. When I first started I was having trouble pacing myself through the rounds. One day we were doing A LOT of running and I kept gassing out and falling behind. I can’t remember who it was but someone told me to follow along with them and it helped a lot. Not too much of a memory but that encouragement helped. I try to do the same with others now if I can.
