December Spotlight Athlete- Trevas Samuel
This month’s spotlight athlete is one of those guys who comes to the gym in a quiet manner, works incredibly hard not looking for any applause or attention, works out in the morning and then again in the evening, all while working a job and attending college. Trevas has been with us for 6 months now and his transformation is a true testament to what hard work and complete focus and dedication can accomplish. He’s lost over 40 lbs and still wants to shed a bit more. You will never hear him complain and you rarely will see him without his trademark smile. He’s an inspiration for anyone who’s been wondering if the CrossFit methodology is for everyone. We asked Trevas a few questions about his time with us. Check out what he said below. Congratulations Trevas on meeting your goals. We know 2020 is going to be even better for you!
What was your first impression and how has that changed? My first impression was that everyone was friendly and welcoming, My impression has not changed at all. I feel like CFZ is its own family and that everyone cares about each other. Also my first impression about the workouts was nervousness, but I knew with the goals I wanted to reach they would help
What brought you to CrossFit Zachary in the first place? I was looking to get in shape and I was recommended to try Crossfit Zachary by Dr. Will Peay, It took me a few moths to start but I finally gave it a chance when I realized CrossFit would work well with my schedule.
What was your first “bright spot, (PR)? My first bright spot was the first time I did not scale any running on a workout and recently on a Saturday morning WOD I realized I could do toes to bar for the first time!
What are you working on now? Currently I am working on getting in the best shape I can before the start of 2020 and also once 2020 gets here I want to work on my upper body strength and conditioning, technique and movements such as rope climbing.
What’s your favorite CrossFit Zachary memory? My favorite CFZ memory was the first time I did a WOD that consisted of thrusters, I thought it was going to be easy but ended up throwing up during the work out. That taught me to never underestimate any workouts.
